WELCOME ! SOME DAYTIME SLOTS NOW AVAILABLE. If you have been thinking about drum lessons then contact me now.

You’re now in the hot seat, the engine room!

It’s my intention to make your drum lessons challenging and fun! If you are a beginner, I would like to get you into a position where you are skilled and confident enough to go and jam with friends or join a band. If you already play in a band, or picking the drums up again after a long layoff, I can help up-skill you on your technique, teach you some new grooves, fills, tricks, rudiments or whatever it is you wish to work on, with the sole purpose of helping you to become a better player.

For beginners - over time you will learn the basic drum rudiments, popular rock beats, learn to play drum fills, learn to read drum music, move on to more advanced beats, play drums along to CD soundtracks and later move on to some of jazz and Latin American grooves. We will listen to and watch some other drummers with some educational drumming DVDs. Students are welcome to bring in CD’s/DVDs of their favourite drummers or bands for listening and evaluating.

There’s lots of other things we can work on like double kick drums, speed, working with a click track, preparing for recording sessions or gigs, how to work with the bass player and much much more. Most importantly though, I like to encourage you to be creative and learn to express yourself musically and to play with groove, feel and style so that you become a well rounded, versatile drummer who makes a makes a valuable contribution to your band's music.

But before we count ourselves in, there are a couple of things you should know about first.

I will take cancellations up until 8am on the morning of the lesson. Earlier notification is much appreciated. If a lesson is cancelled, I will offer you an alternative time. If you are unable to reschedule then that lesson is forfeited.

As I am a professional drummer there are times, occasionally, when I will not be able to take lessons on a given day due to a performance I am required for. In this case I will offer you an alternative lesson time. If this is not possible, the paid for lesson will be carried over to the next one. I do not charge for lessons that I cannot make.

HEARING PROTECTION

The wearing of ear protection during lessons has great benefits and is recommended, however this is a personal choice. Please feel free to bring your own earplugs and wear them at your lessons. Alternatively, these can be bought at any chemist for around $5.00

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT OF ME?

You can expect me to give you my total commitment and dedication to your lessons. I will share with you my knowledge, skills and experience to help put you on a path to successful drumming. My purpose is to see you make good, positive, progress each week and to help you achieve your long term drumming goals.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT OF YOU?

To become a good drummer takes practise. The only way forward is to devote some time between our lessons to practise, therefore you can expect me to give you practise homework most times. Please do find the time to do this and you will progress much more quickly.

Please email me if you have any further queries. I look forward to getting you started!
